    Happy Haggis claims to be “probably the best Scottish family tree site in the world”. I’m not sure if that’s true but you can certainly find loads of information about Scottish family history plus over 2000 Scottish links listed by county.
  • People of Medieval Scotland
    People of Medieval Scotland is a database of all known people of Scotland between 1093 and 1314 mentioned in over 8600 contemporary documents.
    There is a database which you can search or browse for individual names or document type.

    By using the ten important databases on this website it is now possible to find information on most of those from Britain who died in military service in both World Wars. Additionally, over 400,000 particulars including much biographical information of those who served is now available to view in the form of the National Roll of the Great War, De Ruvigny’s Roll Of Honour, Men of The Battle of Waterloo 1815, Boer War Casualties 1899-1902, Distinguished Conduct Medal Citations, Ireland’s Memorial Records, Naval Casualties 1914-1919 and British Prisoners of War (German Camps). In total over 1.25 million records can now be viewed on a pay per view or a subscription basis on this unique site.
  • Scottish First World War Doctors
    During the First World War the Scottish Medical Service Emergency Committee sent out forms to all medical practitioners across Scotland between December 1915 and 1919. The website contains information transcribed from these forms.

Miscellaneous

  • Scottish Gypsies (Archived)
    The Gypsies of Scotland are part of a close-knit communal people who have a shared background, but are scattered throughout the world. Their origins have been the subject of controversy throughout the centuries, but in modern times, we have discovered, from research into their language, that the gypsies originated in Northern India, from whence they spread throughout Europe and the Middle East. No one knows when the first gypsies left India or, indeed, why.

War Memorials

  • Scottish First World War Rolls of Honour
    Rolls of honour containing listings of casualties and those who died while on active service. Includes rolls for organisations, such as schools, universities, clans, businesses and churches, as well as for places all over Scotland. Also some orders of service for unveiling of war memorials.
  • Scottish National War Memorial
    The Scottish National War Memorial website gives free access to the Scottish Roll of Honour which lists World War One Casualties, World War Two Casualties and Post 1945 Casualties. You can search by surname, service number and date of death.
