To the U.S.

  • Ellis Island Passenger Lists
    Search and view free passenger lists and records for arrivals at the port of New York. Registration is required to view the original records but it’s completely free.
  • United States Passenger and Crew Lists
    This collection has over 100 million records of people who arrived in America by ship or plane.
  • Irish Emigration Database
    The Irish Emigration Database contains the names of people who sailed from Ireland to the U.S. in the 19th century.
  • Immigrant Servants Database
    Passenger arrivals for people who went to Colonial America as indentured servants, redemptioners, and transported convicts between 1607 and 1820.

To Australia

  • OZ Ships
    Oz Ships is a website of Peter Larson who is indexing shipping arrivals and departures. The site includes more than 92,000 alphabetical passenger list entries, which are, in turn, linked to transcripts of the passenger lists.

To Canada

  • NFHS Passenger Lists
    A project of the Nanaimo Family History Centre in British Columbia, Canada whereby members are indexing the arrivals at Quebec, Canada (Montreal is included in the Port of Quebec) from 1900 to about 1921 when the passenger lists were discontinued for a time in favour of the form 30A. Arrivals for the period 25 Jun 1905 to 13 Oct 1910 have been completed and comprises 626,150 listings from 1,173 ship arrivals. Current indexing encompasses the period from 1905 back to 1900.

To England

  • NFHS Passenger Lists
    England’s Immigrants 1330-1550 is a fully-searchable database containing over 64,000 names of people known to have migrated to England during the period of the Hundred Years’ War and the Black Death, the Wars of the Roses and the Reformation.

To South America

  • British Settlers in Argentina and Uruguay
    An indexed collection of records from Argentina documenting the presence of thousands of British and other English-speaking residents there. Records include baptisms, marriages, deaths and burials from the Anglican, Scots Presbyterian and Methodist churches, transcripts from the National Archives in Buenos Aires and London, Argentine census returns and contemporary publications.

    The Scottish Emigration Database currently contains the records of over 21,000 passengers who embarked at Glasgow and Greenock for non-European ports between 1 January and 30 April 1923, and at other Scottish ports between 1890 and 1960.
